Fourth Sequel To Oru CBI Diary Kurup | Sethuramayyar Is Back Again

It was a thriller made way back in 1988 starring Malayalam superstar Mammootty. Now 'Oru CBI Dairy Kurippu' director K. Madhu is working on its fourth sequel.

In a chat to IANS, Madhu said scripting work is going on and the film would be released next year.

'To the best of my knowledge this is certainly unique, with not a single film going into four sequels. And mind you, each of the earlier released films were superhits,' said Madhu.

The first sequel was 'Jagratha' in 1989 , 'Sethurama Iyer CBI' in 2004 and 'Nerariyan CBI' in 2005.

'Another uniqueness of this film is that the director, scriptwriter (S.N. Swamy), music (Shyam) and leader actor Mammootty have been the same in all the four films and will continue in the fifth one as well,' pointed out Madhu.

Each of the films saw Mammootty playing the role of a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officer who along with his team solves a crime when the local police fails.

'This time also the plot is the same but the name of the film is not ready. By all means viewers will certainly not be let down and can expect another thriller,' said Madhu who made his directorial debut in 1986 and so far has done 28 films.

Mammooty And Prithviraj Joins Again In Shaji Kailas-Renji Panicker's The King And The Commissioner

After the big success of their recent movie 'Pokkiriraja', the Mammooty-Prithviraj team is heading for yet an other blockbuster. This time Mammooty will be seen as the famous Joseph Alex, the district collector played by Mammooty himself in the hit movie 'The King' directed by Shaji Kailas in 1995.

Along with Mammooty, Prithviraj will don the famous character of Bharathchandran IPS, played by Suresh Gopi in 'Commissioner' and its sequel 'Bharathchandran IPS' directed by Shaji Kailas and Renji Panicker repectievely.

The movie will be directed by Shaji Kailas according to the sources, while the script work will be handled by Renji Panicker. The shooting of this film may start by December, after Mammooty's Perumal IPS to be directed by Shaji Kailas. Perumal IPS is the sequel to the film 'August 1' in which Mammooty played Perumal IPS.

Christian Brothers- Satellite Rights Not Yet Sold - Producer Subair | Malayalam Movie Christian Brothers Preview

Producer Subair, who has produced the multistarrer 'Christian Brothers' said that the satellite rights of the film haven't been yet sold.

Recently it was reported that Asianet has been sold the satellite rights of the film for a record price of three crores.

Subair however made clear that the television channels have considerably lessened the amount to be given for acquiring the satellite rights. Hence the rights of the film haven't been sold as yet, he said.

'Christian Brothers' has been directed by Joshey and stars Mohanlal, Dileep, Suresh Gopi, Sarath Kumar, Lakshmi Rai, Kaniha, Kavya Madhavan and Lekshmi Gopalaswami.

Prithviraj's 'Anwar' that has been directed by Amal Neerad would be released in October.

Amal has scripted the story himself along with R Unni who had scripted Big B. The movie presents an interesting debate before us as to what is right and what is wrong, and whether one man's right could be another man's wrong.

The film also stars Lal and Prakashraj. Mamta Mohandas is the heroine of the film. The post production work of the film is fast being completed.

Perumal IPS - August 1 Second Part | Shaji Kailas To Direct Mammooty's Perumal IPS

Megastar Mammootty is preparing for making Sequel to one of his old movies named "August 1", which was released in the year of 1988. Stylish director Shaji Kailas has decided to direct this movie. the story and script will be handled by S.N.Swamy. The final discussion between Shaji and swamy was over and it has been decided to start the shooting by August. The movie will be a simple investigation story in a very stylish way. After her holiday in the US, National award winning actress Priyamani has joined the sets of Renjith-directed Pranchiyettan and the Saint in Thrissur. The actress had given 18 days call sheet for the film. Shooting began in the first week of July and will be completed in a single schedule. This Malayalam film stars Mammootty in the lead.

Son of Alexander is the sequel of the movie Samrajyam released in late eighties in which the star played the role of an underworld don called Alexander.

Samrajyam was one of the biggest hit and had run in theatres for around 250 days and is dubbed to many languages.Big B gave a new face to Mammootty in the role of Bilal John Kurisingal. He kept an emotionless face throughout the film. The film was not a big success in the theatres but the post theatre response was great.

In Son of Alexander, Mammootty is to have a similar appearance to that in Big B. Amal's earlier film Sagar Elias Jackie was the sequel of Irupatham Nootandu. Son of Alexander is produced by Marikar Films.

Pokkiriraja Sets New Collection Record | Mammooty's Pokkiriraja Turning into a Megahit by breaking all Collection Records.

Malayalam superstar Mammootty and youth icon Prithviraj's Pokkiri Raja, written and directed by debutant Vysakh (a former assistant of Joshi and Johnny Antony), has created box office history by collecting a distributors' share of Rs. 2.21 crores in its opening week from 110 screens in India.

As per reports, Pokkiri Raja reached the new high, thus breaking the existing record of last year's multi-starrer Twenty:20, which collected Rs. 2.03 crores in the first week.

Featuring Mammootty and Prithviraj as brothers, Pokkiri Raja begins with a flashback story of two brothers Raja (Mammootty) and Surya (Prithviraj), in which Raja is sent to juvenile home and then exiled to Madurai, where he grows to be the Pokkiri Raja, a popular don.

15 years later, Raja takes a contract to kill a rowdy in Kerala, but later realises the victum is none other than his own brother Surya, who impersonates a police inspector to catch a college rowdy who was harassing the police commissioner's daughter (Shriya Saran). What happens next forms the rest of the film.

The movie begins with the Britisher's decision to levy heavy takes from the local people under the rajahs. Pazhassi who belonged to the Kottayam Royal family of Thalassery region oppose this and becomes the first ruler from the state for British, to be branded as a big enemy to fight it out on battles. Pazhassi who is forced to flee from the his palace starts a carefully planned counter action, with the aid of his trusted lieutenant Edachena Kunkan, (Sarath Kumar)and Kaithery Ambu (Suresh Krishna). He gets the full fledged support from the kurichiers and tribals headed by Thalakkal Chandhu and Neeli who fights the Britishers with their sort of Guirella warfare, with tribal weapons. British face heavy setbacks in various confrontations and as many as five hundred from British army are killed in fight with Pazhassi. Though Pazhassi was able to surprise the British with his tactics and bravery, traitors like Pazhayaveedam Chandhu (Suman) helps the British to gain momentum in the later part of the warfare and capture each of Raja's men.

The movie shows the grace of its great names in many a points and it is sure without an expert team of technicians like this, it's just impossible to execute a movie of this magnitude. In terms of visual and creative terrain that this movie covers, the big salute must be given to Ramanath Shetty and Venu's mind blowing Camerawork, Ravi Dewan's action direction, splendid costume and art direction by N Muthuraj. The only aspect that could have been better include Illayaraja; music and background scores, though songs like ‘Kunnathe’ are gems which may once again give the desi nightingale ''Chithra'' another big accolade. And some seems to have craved for some more brilliant dialogues from M T, to be planted on the megastar’s title character

Venkitesh Iyer (Prithviraj) is a tutor at an engineering coaching centre who is also an ATM robber who attacks only IBI Bank. Abirami (Samvritha) one of his student has crush on him which later proves to have no relevance in the film. Alexander Felix (Narien) gets assigned as private eye for the Bank to find the modus operandi of loot and to explain a defense mechanism to prevent the robbery. Bhavana comes as the system head for the bank. She stays with Narien in Bank’s guest house.

How Alexander Felix tries to catch the robber and what happens there after is what the Robinhood is about.

Vande Mataram’ – the most expected big budgeted bilingual film had its music released in Malayalam prior to Tamil version. ‘Vande Mataram’ was earlier titled as ‘Aruvadai’ and later got the same title of Malayalam version.

The film features Malayalam superstar Mammooty and Action King Arjun in lead roles. Henry, who delivered a mind-boggling flick ‘Yavanika’ before many years is back in showbiz producing this film (banner name of ‘Pankaj Productions’) with a whooping budget of Rs. 14Crores.

The film is directed by T. Aravind and features Sneha in female lead as a pilot. Deepak J.D., Jagadish, Kalabhavan Mani, Atul Kulkarni, Karthika, Jai Akash and Late actor Rajan P Dev and others perform prominent characterizations. Rajesh Yadav cranks the camera and Vidhyasagar has scored music for this film.

Movie Review

No point in mincing words, debutant director Anil K Nair's Pulliman is a damp squib. With no worthy script, the movie is a painful misadventure from the word 'go' and turns out to be a serious insult on the viewers who pay for their tickets. The storyline, if there is one, is simply naïve, trite and ridiculous.

Kunjunni (Kalabhavan Mani) is an orphan and is the darling of a village called Perumannoor. He sings lullabies for kids, does all kinds of jobs and is unbelievably nice even to the menacing villain, Kalan Vasu (Ponvannan). Now, though Vasu beats up certain other shady looking men in style, no one is quite clear about the reasons for all these.

With songs after songs in various colours and get ups, Kunjunni's goodie-goodie dialogues (he is the epitome of all virtues) and some nauseating comedy by a few characters (played by Kochupreman, Sudheesh, Geedha Salam, Mukundan and so on), the story meanders aimlessly all along. Soon the heroine, Radha (Meera Nandan), makes her entry. She belongs to a nadodi gang, who has come to the village to sell statuettes of Lord Krishna.

Next, Vasu beats up Kunjunni and tries to rape Radha, but changes his mind midway. Now, believe it or faint, he is at the forefront to get Kunjunni married to Radha. As we heave a sigh of relief that this insipid drama is over, here comes another twist in the tale. Kunjunni actually belongs to a rich family and he had left home some twenty years back, as his mother (Saranya) was a bit too strict.

Pulliman shows why Kalabhavan Mani has lost his ground as a hero, of late. Meera Nandan gives a rather wooden performance and makes no impression whatsoever. Nedumudi Venu looks nice as a villager, but then he can't do much in a film like this.

It is surprising why no one involved in the making of this film ever thought about the inanity of this theme. The multi-colored visuals and the excessive number of songs actually add to your woes. The flaws in the story are too many even to point out, like the speech on the impact of reality shows on young kids but then, did we have such shows on TV twenty years back? But such silly goofs mean nothing in particular here and this film, if it qualifies as one, is plain rubbish.

The industry bigwigs has recently decided to put a curb on other language films “to save Malayalam films” but do they expect the viewers to come to the theatres to watch craps like Pulliman?

The new movie on sets ‘Pokkiri Raja’ had been hailed as a trendsetter, even from the days of its announcement. Apart from bringing in a casting coup by uniting Megastar Mammootty and youth icon Prithviraj for the first time in full length roles, this movie by debutant director Vysakh has also taken pains to present Super actress Shriya Saran to Mollywood.

The walrus moustache style that has been for the first time presented by a hero in Malayalam cinema, has already been taken up by the campus youngsters as the latest style element. Scripted by hit writers Sibi K Thomas-Udhay Krishna, this movie is a fast paced thriller with plenty of hilarious sequences.

The movie has Mammootty as Raja and Prithvi as Soorya, both sons of popular Gandhian and idealistic teacher Madhavan Mash. The eldest son Raja was thrown out of the house by Madhavan Mash, as he was reluctant to stick to his father’s Gandhian ways. He ran away from home to Madurai after a scuffle and becomes the leader of a gang of ruffians. Raja, who now lives in Madurai, talks with a peculiar accent and is a huge fan of Rajinikanth.

Madhavan Mash has much hopes on his younger son Soorya, who was reared with care as to become a model for the youth of the town. But circumstances forced Soorya to just follow his elder brother’s path and to take arms and to become another notable name, booked by the police. Shriya plays Aswathy, the daughter of the city police commissioner who falls in love with Soorya.

Madhavan Mash is finally pushed into a position where he has to go in the lookout for his elder son to save his younger one’s life.

The heroics of two brothers is what debut director Vysakh is filling up as the right ingredients for a commercial potboiler. The movie will feature eighty prominent artist of south cinema including Vijayaraghavan, Siddhique, Nedumudi Venu, Santhosh Jogy, Baiju Ezhupunna and Karate Raj.

The music section of the movie is handled by Kaithapram and Jassie Gift. The songs which are already out, top the charts. Shaji handles the camera while Mahesh Narayanan does the editing.

The debutant director Vysakh had been an associate to Johny Antony and Joshy before attempting this big affair. The movie planned like Tamil flicks had been shot at Ernakulam and Pollachi.

Produced by Tomichan Mulakupadam in the banner of Mulakupadam films, ‘Pokkiri Raja’ will make a wide release on the 29th of this month, as a big mid summer release.
